Our Pastor

Rob Christian is the founding pastor of The Rivers. With his wife Michele and their three children, Suzanne, James and Katherine, they came to Yuba City in 1991 to start a church where people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds could experience love and acceptance as they get to know Jesus personally.

One of Robs sayings is, "We are all jerks & boneheads." Instead of trying to act "spiritual", he encourages everyone to simply be who they really are, admit their weaknesses and grow together to be more like Jesus. Healing and growth, not pretense and pressure, is what church is all about.

"We all have problems; we are all broken in some way. But God wants to heal us and do great things in our lives. Then He wants to use us to bring God's healing and love to other people. Everyone has a great part to play in God's plan. Our goal is to see you and those you care about have a deep and life-changing encounter with Jesus. Then we want to help you discover the gifts God has given you so you can work together with us to bring the love and hope of Christ to this generation." -Pastor Rob

Rob graduated from Bethany College in Santa Cruz, CA in 1986 with a BS in Pastoral Ministries. In the past he had a normal job in various roles in manufacturing / electronics companies. He loves hiking and running, music, and being with his family.
