Why The Rivers?

The Rivers is truly a different kind of church. We keep things simple and straightforward. We believe you’ll feel comfortable and relaxed yet challenged and engaged at The Rivers. You’ll be accepted and encouraged. But, most of all we’re a place where you’ll discover who you really are, and become the person God made you to be.

Our Name – Why we are called The Rivers

Rivers bring life. Always flowing and changing, they are refreshing and inspiring. Located at the confluence of the Feather and Yuba Rivers, Yuba City and Marysville are communities that are shaped by rivers.

From Genesis to Revelation, Rivers are a significant theme in the Bible. We are called The Rivers because we want to be used by God to bring life and refreshing to others.

This is best described by the following three passages from the Bible:

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! I am making a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people.- Isaiah 43:18-21 (NKJV)

They are strong, like a tree planted by a river. The tree produces fruit in season, and its leaves don’t die. Everything they do will succeed. – Psalms 1:3 (NCV)

If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. – John 7:37-38 (NKJV)

These are the foundational principles of The Rivers.
