Truth for Today
“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” Romans 12:15
Thought for Today
Sharing in each other’s joys—as well as each other’s tears (see the second half of the verse) -binds us together in love. All of this is very good, but it’s not always easy. Sometimes the command to participate in another person’s joy can feel more like a burden than an invitation to their celebration. One of the problems is when something good happens to others, we often compare our lives to theirs and wonder why they get all the breaks. Yet as believers, we should be the first to rejoice with those who rejoice, especially if those who are rejoicing are brothers and sisters in the Lord. The Apostle Paul says to set your own troubles aside for a moment and rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep.
Prayer for Today
Father, I praise You for Your goodness, faithfulness, and compassion toward those around me. If they’re rejoicing, may I rejoice with them. Jesus, if they’re weeping, may I weep alongside them. Holy Spirit, whatever season they’re passing through, may Your mercy abound, Your grace sustain, and Your love carry them. Amen.
