Discovering God…Empowering People…Fulfilling Destinies

Day 16 – 31 Days of Prayer

Truth for Today

“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:1-4

Thought for Today

The Apostle Paul reminds his apprentice, Timothy, he should not only be praying for those in authority but also be giving thanks for them.

We know from Scripture God can turn the hearts of kings (Proverbs 21:1). This means we can be praying for God’s will to be done and for our leaders to seek God and listen to Him. We can pray for them to be surrounded by godly counsel and, most important, for our leaders to personally know God and the salvation found through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Interceding for those in authority is good and pleases the Lord.

Prayer for Today

Father, today I pray according to Your Word and Your will for those in positions of leadership and authority.

Jesus, I pray for:

1. our president
2. vice president
3. all the cabinet members
4. supreme court justices
5. members of the Senate and House of Representatives
6. our law enforcement officers
7. those in our military
8. my boss/supervisor
9. my pastors 🙂

to receive wisdom from God, to act in obedience to His wisdom, and for the power of God to flow in their lives. Holy Spirit, guide them. Amen.
